Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.

Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group and the group held auditions for the new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark the 20th anniversary of the band. The band dug through old tapes and recordings to create the special record. The album was well-received by fans and Toto embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.



While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with Toto.

In 1998, Toto started working on an album titled Old Is New. This album included three new tracks as well as several finished recordings of songs from the past. The album became a huge hit and the band went on tours to promote it.
